US Department of Veterans Affairs, Las Vegas Medical Center - Activation Services
Supporting the New Hospital and Regional Clinic Consolidation

Las Vegas Medical Center

Summary:

In the mid-2000’s, The CPI Group provided services to support the Regional Clinic Consolidation contract from the Department of Veterans Affairs, Las Vegas Veterans Health Care System (LVHCS) providing planning, consultation, coordination, procurement support, delivery and transition needed in support of patient care at the new facility located at 6900 N Pecos Road, Las Vegas, Nevada.

Implementation:

The US Department of Veteran Affairs had been operating numerous specialized VA clinics throughout the greater Las Vegas area without a dedicated hospital to serve veterans. These disparate clinics were consolidated and reorganized into a state-of-the-art health care facility in northern Las Vegas, and four regionally placed Community Based Outpatient Clinics. Also, as part of the consolidation, the new hospital assumed the inpatient bed responsibility for personnel previously admitted at Nellis Air Force Base.

Total project cost of $420M
Equipment and activation budget of $156M
700k sf main medical center
90 bed hospital & 120 bed nursing home
Four community outpatient clinics

Ongoing Results:

Comprehensive Asset Management – CPI’s team of Project Management professionals and Clinical Subject Matter Experts consulted with the LVHCS staff to identify a complete list of all assets required for a successful activation including IT, Food Service, Interiors, Artwork, Communications, Medical Equipment (both fixed and moveable), Furniture, Business Equipment, and Start-Up Supplies.

Custom Reporting Standards – The CPI team developed a custom database solution to accurately track all FF&E and associated activation assets to provide custom reports for the budgetary reporting standards required by VA Leadership and ultimately Congress.

Chief Executive Officer

“Our team supported the new hospital and campus in north Las Vegas with an inclusive attitude – everything needed to fully outfit the facility for day-one was tracked, managed and controlled by our team using custom-developed tools and processes. From the MRI, the patient stretcher, the control room chair, the artwork, the lead apron, and the coat rack to hang it on was all part of our IOTA efforts.”
